**What's going on in Canning Street?**

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe that we are in the Summer term given the awful weather, but we are and this is always a fun and busy term at Canning Street. This term is proving no exception and lots of our classes have been enjoying some exciting lessons and taking part in whole school challenges.

On Friday, as you know, we took part in the Captain Tom 100 Challenge. To celebrate the life of Captain Tom and his amazing fund raising for the NHS, each class carried out 100 mini challenges, such as squats, burpees and alps of the yard. It was very challenging but a real team effort. Furthermore, we held a collection on the gate in the morning where people kindly made donations to our charity - St Oswald's Hospice. Once again, it was a great example of Canning Street teamwork and generosity.

As well as the Captain Tom challenge, other classes have been busy this week. Year 2 were shocked to find what appeared to be a huge dragon egg in the yard! They are keeping this safe and warm in their classroom for now....we are all wondering what will happen with it this week!

We will keep this page updated regularly with the lovely things the children are getting up to. While the weather is so wet, please do make sure you child is wearing appropriate footwear and brings a coat.

Finally, please remember that children should be in school every day. Every day your child misses school is a day they fall behind in their learning.
