Learning to Write...

This week, I have spent a little bit of time in Reception and I couldn't be more impressed with the way the children were working. For those of you who don't know our Reception room very well, it is entirely open plan which means the staff can set up lots of fascinating activities for the children to choose from. When I visited this week, the children were all having so much fun on the activity they had chosen - whether it was printing, constructing or playing in the small world area. Everyone was busy and the atmosphere was very calm and purposeful. Even better, the children were so excited to tell me what they were doing - what brilliant imaginations they have!

Later that day, I had a visitor into my office. It was Miss Cook with one of her little friends, Armando. Armando had chosen to do some writing and had practised and practised his letters until they were perfect. Miss Cook was so proud of his hard work!

Learning to write is one of the most important thing children will learn at Canning Street. Especially because writing is so much fun! Well done to Armando and all of Reception for your wonderful start at Canning Street.
