Forest School Update - Spring Term

We said in our last blog how excited we were because spring had just arrived. However, winter obviously wanted to say, “Goodbye!” in her own way - with snow! Well, that just made Forest School even more enjoyable, as you can see from the photos.

Once all the snow had finally disappeared we began to see the best of spring. The daffodils sparkled yellow, the branches on the trees began to fill with bright, green leaves and the frogs were splashing around in the pond! Some of our younger children were so inspired by our fantastic frogs that they made their own craft frogs with long, springy legs!

As well as having lots of time to practise and improve some of the skills our children have learnt already, like wood-whittling, Miss Curry is always looking for new challenges for our children to tackle. Sometimes these are individual skills and sometimes they are group activities.

This term some children had a go at using a claw hammer – safely, of course! By the end of the session, they were experts at ‘tapping’ nails into a log and then carefully removing them with the ‘claw’ on the hammer. Just look at the photos to see how happy and proud this made the children feel!

Other children had the challenge of putting up a waterproof shelter before it started raining! We loved letting our Forest schoolers do this task and watching them work as a team to complete the challenge!
