Forest School Update - Spring 2

At Forest School we love being out in the fresh air, listening to the birds sing and surrounded by trees and flowers. Not only is it great for our children’s health and wellbeing but watching things change with each season of the year certainly makes everyone who comes to Forest School feel closer to nature.

Spring, which has just arrived, is especially enjoyable because there is so much starting to happen; so much to see and wonder at!

Lots of the bulbs planted by our children are pushing up out of the soil, wild daffodils are sprouting up everywhere and the buds on some of our trees are beginning to unfurl their leaves. Even better - and something the children are super excited about is – the frogs are back! How do we know? Well, they have been laying their eggs, in blobs of clear jelly called frogspawn, in our pond!

However, just when it should be getting a little warmer, it looks like some wild wintry weather is coming and it’s going to get very cold and perhaps even snow!

If it does, we are not worried. We’ll just keep busy and warm doing all the things we love doing in Forest School - playing, chatting and laughing with our friends, whittling wood and building dens! And, if it does snow, we will just put up a shelter, light a fire and sit around it, telling stories or doing craft activities!

The wonderful children of Canning Street will, just like things in nature, such as our frogs, birds, trees and flowers, simply adapt to the challenge of cold weather and snow and be just fine!
