Forest School Update - Autumn 2
‘Too magical to describe!’ is what one child said to his teacher after visiting Forest School this term.
We agree! There have been lots of magical moments with lots of our children from Nursery all the way up to Year 6. It’s been an amazing Autumn seeing our children outside, in the fresh air, being happy, playful and adventurous!
Talking of adventure, our new slackline - a bouncy line stretched between two trees which you can walk along, with another line above it to hold onto - has been really popular. We have loved watching our children tackling this challenge and seeing them grow in confidence as they succeed with it. Often children want an adult to be standing right next to them as they climb on to the very wobbly slackline for the first time. However, it’s not long before they want to do it all on their own! As one child said to the adult helping him, "I want you to go now." He then walked all the way along the slackline entirely independently! He was so happy and proud of himself.
That is exactly the type of experience and outcome we want all our children to get from the things we do at Forest School.
There will be plenty more exciting things like this for our children to do and benefit from as our Forest school grows and we are able to offer more and more varied challenges and activities.
In the meantime, it’s time to say ‘goodbye’ to Autumn and welcome to Winter! Will we be having some snowy adventures in Forest School? We will have to wait and see, won’t we!
