Bulb Planting
The children at Canning Street were given the opportunity to be involved in a spring bulb planting project; run by Scotswood Garden. A member of the team at Scotswood Garden Juliet Birch-Machin, kindly came along for an afternoon of bulb planting with some of our children. Not only did the children get to plant bulbs, they also learnt about how crucial it is to look after our bees and how important planting flowers is to protect our wildlife.
We decided that it would be a lovely idea to link the bulb planting to a celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s life. Therefore; we planted the bulbs in the shape of the queen’s initials, as a permanent reminder of our lovely queen.
As only some of the children got to plant bulbs on this day, the remainder of the bulbs will be planted during our Forest School sessions.
