School Meals

School Meals Statement

School meals at Canning Street Primary School are healthy and nutritious.

We have a modern, non frying kitchen on the school site and all meals are freshly prepared on a daily basis.

Our fully inclusive ethos ensures our varied daily menu caters for the needs of our multi-cultural school population. There is always at least one vegetarian meal option every day, sometimes two.

We offer a range of fresh salads each day and fresh fruit for dessert is also available. Our mixed fruit bowls are very popular.

School meal menus are available for you to view below and on display outside each classroom.

From September 2014, all children will be having a school meal. There will be no packed lunches.

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal.

The governors have agreed to subsidise school meals for Key Stage 2 children for the second year running. Meals will now cost £6 per week for children who are not entitled to free school meals. This should be paid each Monday for the full week. Children must stay for school meals for the full week.

We would like to encourage children to try the range of meals on offer.
We would welcome support from parents by talking to their child about the choices they have and what they would like to eat each day. We regularly review our school meals with parents and children.

To find out if your child could be eligible for free school meals, please see staff in the main office.
